Nathan's Birthday Post!

I am over a month late in writing about Nathan's birthday, but I just have to share my cheesy birthday date night plans! He thought we were going to have dinner at home and then watch a movie together on the couch. He had been sick, so we agreed to keep it low key... but I tried to be a little more creative!

I made Nathan two cards. The first was a typical card, with an attempt at drawing him and a mushy message inside. The second was more of a program outlining the night, but with some options!

He had to wait until the previous activity was finished before he could open an envelope and see what was next on the agenda! I think the little surprises made things a lot of fun.

The night went as follows:
  1. Dinner - I rushed to the store after work and grabbed a few things. Nathan asked me to make lasagna, so I also made garlic bread and caesar salad. I also tried to draw a picture of Dash!
  2. Dessert - We drove to an old favourite date place of ours in Thornhill. The Old Firehall Confectionery has lots of delicious sweet goodies. We had brought Dash and it was very cold, so things were a little more complicated than planned. We took turns going into the store and picking our treat. Despite the cold, we both go ice cream - Nathan got a Dippin' Dots Sundae and I got a chocoalate dipped vanilla cone. I secretly grabbed a white chocolate dipped vanilla fudge with sprinkles for Nathan and a candy apple for myself. I apologize that I have no pictures, but they were so darn delicious that there was simply no time for that!
  3. Fun - We dropped Dash off with a friend and Nathan opened his third envelope. He had the option to go to the movies, bowling, or mini golfing. Since he was still feeling sickish, he opted to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I hadn't wanted to see it, but was pleasantly surprised when I ended up really liking it.

Dash had since been transferred to my dad's place, so we picked him up and snapped a few pictures while there. On the back of his second card, Nathan had one last envelope. Inside were tickets to a Toronto Raptors game.

He seemed to enjoy the night. I know I did! We found it was nice not to spend too much on gifts, but instead use that money to go out and do things and make memories together.

Just a little baby bump update: 20 weeks and 5 days!
